Writing formulas in Flex HRM can sometimes feel like a step into the unknown. It takes knowledge, time and a pinch of courage. Now there is new support in place that makes the job both easier and safer: Flexie helps you create, understand and troubleshoot formulas – directly in the system.
Describe what you need – Flexie suggests the formula
Describe in natural language what you want the formula to do, and Flexie suggests what it could look like. You can also paste a wording straight from a collective agreement and ask Flexie to translate it into a working formula.
Take sick deduction from day 15 as an example – a calculation that is often complex and full of conditions. Instead of interpreting the agreement text yourself and building the formula from scratch, you paste in the text and ask for a formula to use on the pay code for sick deduction from day 15. You get a suggestion that you can adjust, copy or use as it is.
Let Flexie explain the formula in plain language
You don't always need a new formula. Sometimes you just need to understand the one that is already there. Point to an existing formula and ask Flexie to explain it, and you get a description in plain English of what it actually does, step by step.
That is particularly valuable when you take over a set-up from someone else, when you need to quality assure a solution ahead of a new period, or simply when you want to be sure that the formula does what you think it does before you touch it.
Troubleshoot when the result isn't what you expected
Are you getting a result you didn't expect? Ask Flexie to go through the formula with you. She explains how the calculation reasons and what governs the outcome, so that you find the error faster – a condition that triggers at the wrong point, a variable that fetches something other than you thought.
Instead of trial and error, you get an answer to why the result turns out the way it does.
Works for several types of formulas
The help doesn't only apply to formulas on pay codes. Flexie supports you with several of the formula types you work with in Flex HRM:
- formulas for pay codes in Payroll
- formulas in annual leave agreements
- formulas for events in Time
Flexie also understands the context. If you are in the pay code register, for example, she assumes that it is a formula for a pay code you want help with, so you don't have to explain the basics every time.
Two ways to get help
You can reach the feature in two ways:
- Via the chat with Flexie, just as you already do today when you ask other questions.
- Via a button right next to the formula field, where you open a dialogue with Flexie without leaving the view you are in.
The value for you who work with set-ups
The feature is particularly useful for you who work at a payroll bureau or as a specialist and set up Flex HRM for new companies. Much of the time that today goes into interpreting agreements and building formulas can instead be spent on what drives you – creating the right solution for the customer.
You who are an administrator also benefit from it. If you come across an existing formula that you want to understand, need to adjust or suspect is calculating incorrectly, you can ask Flexie to explain, adapt or troubleshoot it for you.
