The payroll run is complete—but before the money reaches the bank, there are often several manual steps remaining. With the new integration between Flex HRM Payroll and Visma Autopay, the path to payment becomes both smoother and more secure.
For many payroll specialists, the final step in the payroll run still involves a significant amount of manual work. Files must be downloaded, processed locally, and then uploaded again to the bank. This takes time—and when sensitive payment information is handled manually, it also creates a number of unnecessary security risks.
Enter: Autopay!
With the new integration, the bank file can be transferred from Flex HRM Payroll to the bank via Visma Autopay, without you having to process it locally on your computer. The benefits are clear: fewer manual steps and full control throughout the entire process.
“We’re constantly developing Flex HRM with the goal of eliminating anything that wastes time or creates unnecessary uncertainty for our customers.” The integration with Autopay is a clear example of exactly this: how we can automate a process that previously required a lot of manual handling and—perhaps most importantly—how we can minimize vulnerabilities and security risks throughout the entire workflow,” says Niclas Finsberg, Product Manager at Flex Applications.
First things first: What is Visma Autopay?
Visma Autopay is a cloud-based payment solution that acts as a secure bridge between Flex HRM Payroll and the bank. The service is already used by over 120,000 companies and processes approximately five million transactions each month—with integrations to banks both in Sweden and internationally.
With the new integration, payment information can go directly from Flex HRM Payroll via Autopay to the bank, without you having to download and transfer bank files between different systems yourself.
Less manual work—more control
Automating the transfer isn’t just about saving a few clicks. With Autopay, it also becomes easier to track the payment and build in controls before it’s sent.
Some of the benefits:
- Fewer manual steps. You don’t have to download the bank file locally and then upload it again to the banking service.
- Reduced risk of errors. Automatic duplicate checks and clear validation steps help catch discrepancies before the payment is processed.
- Flexible approvals. Up to four approval levels make it possible, for example, to have the finance department review and approve the payment before it proceeds.
- Better overview. Reporting, logs, and alerts make it easier to see what’s coming up, what’s been completed, and whether any action is needed.
Additionally, with a more automated workflow, the process becomes less reliant on manual procedures and the expertise of individual staff members—a key advantage during periods such as vacations, sick leave, or staff changes.
More secure all the way to the bank
Payroll payments contain information that requires careful handling. That’s why security has been a central part of the integration.
Bank files are transferred in encrypted form via Autopay, and the solution uses two-factor authentication. Autopay also supports ISO 20022, the international standard for financial messages. In this way, manual processing of bank files can be eliminated entirely from the workflow—while control and traceability are strengthened.
Even if you manage multiple companies
Do you handle payroll for multiple businesses? Autopay makes it possible to manage payroll payments for multiple companies within the same interface. This provides a more centralized workspace, a better overview, and reduces the need to switch between different environments.
How to get started
Autopay can be used as a standalone solution alongside Flex HRM Payroll—no ERP system from Visma is required. If you have an agreement with a supported bank, we’d be happy to help you determine if the solution is a good fit and guide you through getting started.
