In 2026, the banks updated their specifications (MIG) for payroll files in the ISO 20022 pain.001 format. Here at Flex, we have compiled the information we received from the banks, which we have used to adapt Flex HRM Payroll accordingly.
If you’ve received information from your bank, you can quickly check here to see if the change has already been implemented in Flex HRM. This summary applies to the banks that have ready-to-use bank files in Flex HRM Payroll: BNP Paribas, Citibank, Danske Bank, DNB, Handelsbanken, JP Morgan, Nordea, SEB, and Swedbank. It is based on the banks’ published documents as of October 13, 2026.
Changes affecting all Swedish banks
In 2026, the Swedish payment infrastructure was migrated from Bankgirot’s old system to a new clearing system based on ISO 20022. In connection with this, the banks have updated their requirements for payment files, and Flex HRM Payroll has been adapted to meet them.
- Old formats have been phased out. Bankgirot’s older formats, such as KI and LB, were phased out in the spring of 2026. Payroll payments are now made using ISO 20022-format files sent directly to the bank.
- Recipient’s name. Banks now require that the employee’s name be included with payroll payments. Flex HRM Payroll has always included the name in the payroll file, and since the name must be registered for the employee anyway, this requirement does not entail any practical change.
- Address information. Unstructured addresses are being phased out. If an address is included, it must contain at least the town name and country code.
Read more about this change here. - Newer format version. Several banks have begun to support pain.001.001.09 (the 2019 version). No bank currently requires a transition for payroll files.
